A suspended timber floor sits on joists with a ventilated void beneath. DampMaster installs new suspended timber floors where this construction is appropriate, including creating additional sub-floor ventilation using air bricks and cross-ventilation to the rear of the property where possible. All structural timbers are replaced with treated timber to improve longevity and reduce the risk of future decay.
Where an existing suspended timber floor is removed, DampMaster installs insulation where possible, a vapour barrier, a physical damp proof membrane, a concrete slab and a self-levelling finish, ensuring no future risk of groundwater rising through the solid slab.

A liquid damp proof membrane is a surface-applied coating that creates a continuous, seamless barrier. It is a more cost-effective solution where excavating into the subfloor is not practical, or where an existing concrete floor has no DPM and moisture is still finding its way through.
We assess the existing floor, identify the cause of any damp or structural problem, and recommend the most appropriate replacement. Floor replacement is often part of a wider damp proofing project, and we coordinate all the work together.
